Data and Server Monitoring and Protection
Continuous Monitoring
Harland Financial Solutions' Enterprise Services Center (ESC) provides 24 hour support and monitoring of application servers, Web servers, outsourced data processing, networks, computer operations, and data communications for financial institutions. Additionally, the ESC offers offsite server storage, third-party testing, business continuity planning, and disaster recovery hot site services.
Testing & Security
The Enterprise Services Center is regularly tested through an Intrusion Detection System, internal audits, and third-party penetration tests to protect against abnormal activity. When anomalies occur, the system alerts our information technology staff so appropriate action can be taken. The physical security of the ESC is also regularly examined. The Enterprise Services Center uses redundant firewalls to monitor activity around-the-clock to ensure comprehensive data protection. Access to the ESC is electronically controlled and restricted to authorized personnel.
SAS70 Type II Certified (Statement on Auditing Standards)
A third-party Service Auditor's Review of policies and procedures for the ESC is conducted annually. Auditors examine procedures and controls for systems, network, and applications in accordance with the standards of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Multiple systems and controls are employed to ensure service availability for our clients.
Uninterrupted Service Measures
Uninterruptible Power Supply
The Enterprise Services Center uses a dual and redundant Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) and redundant Power Distribution Units to ensure continuous power availability for the data center and protection from electrical spikes and surges.
In the event of an extended power outage, a diesel generator will provide continuous power to the ESC. The data center also utilizes dual temperature and humidity control units to maintain a constant environment. Detection and alarm systems protect against environmental issues from fire, water, and temperature changes.
Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery
Keeping your financial institution operational regardless of the circumstances is one of the cornerstones of the Enterprises Services Center. By implementing a proper Enterprise Business Continuity Plan (EBCP), institutions minimize financial and information loss.
We assess and monitor your risk, as well as validate your Business Recovery Plan through testing or practical application. In the event of a disaster at the Enterprise Services Center, offsite facilities contain all the necessary computer, telecommunications, and optical disk hardware for a quick recovery. If a prolonged service interruption occurs, the ESC will implement its disaster recovery plan using the hot site, if the present site is inoperable. The hot site disaster recovery plan is tested biannually.
